This hybrid class was created by Jackie and is all about balance! For the first 30 minutes of class we move through an uplifting vinyasa flow to awaken and warm up the body. Then we will snuggle into restorative poses with the support of a variety of props to restore and relax the body for the final 45 minutes of class. This class is accessible for all levels.
This 60 minute movement, breath, and meditation class connects the mind, body, and spirit. Class will begin with a 45 minute Vinyasa flow as we move from one pose to another, connecting breath to movement. For the final 15 minutes of class we’ll be guided through focused breath work and a meditation to go deep within, reduce stress, and leave feeling fully relaxed. Sometimes referred to as “sleepy yoga”, this class offers a more gentle approach to ease into movement. We will rely heavily on a combination of props to fully support and comfort the body as we hold poses for extended periods of time. Restorative yoga promotes relaxation, recovery, good sleep and healing. This 60 minute class focuses on the dense connective tissue of the body. We will bring our bodies into a variety of postures, holding each for several minutes, allowing the nourishing effects to hydrate the connective tissue, removing toxins in the body and bringing easier mobility to the joint areas. This all levels class is a great balance to more active forms of movement...the Yin to the Yang. Class will end with savasana and a meditation.

Join Kerry Pinkham, certified Ayurvedic consultant, for this special workshop. As we move into winter the dry quality is prevalent and causes aggravation to our body and mind. Ayurveda encourages the practice of body oiling, known as Abhyanga, as a daily routine to maintain health and well-being. The practice involves applying warm oil to the entire body, from head to toe, and is believed to nourish the skin, support the immune system, and promote relaxation. Regular body oiling is thought to enhance physical health, mental well-being, and overall vitality. The oil will be provided for you to apply during the workshop. This is a hands on workshop (your hands, not ours).
You will need to bring: your yoga mat, 1-2 towels to cover your mat (perhaps older towels if you worry about getting oil on them), an older wash cloth (we will use this for a light dry brushing before the massage).
Head massage with oil will be offered, you can opt for doing a dry massage on the scalp if you don't want to apply oil to the head. Wear a tank top and shorts that you don't mind getting a little oily. We will also be applying oil to the face, just a heads up for make-up wearers, you can come make-up free! This is a no judgement zone. =)

I've been teaching yoga, pranayama, and meditation for more than 20 years and was originally certified to teach Hatha yoga in 2003 at Maha Yoga Center in Bridgewater, MA under the mentorship of Diane Lagadec. I am also a breathwork facilitator/energy healer (certified in Levels 1-5 with David Elliot).
I have been sensing and feeling energy fields ever since I can remember, and to heighten my perception, I became certified in Meridian Yoga, Reiki 1 & II, and Reconnective Healing. Also a certified Psych-K facilitator, I bring energy healing into both group breathwork and 1:1 breathwork sessions. In my experience, breathwork and energy healing- paired together - is the fastest way to peel back your layers, release tension and break through emotional blocks. I am excited to share this healing modality with you all in class.
I am the former owner of Breath Joy Yoga Studio in Sharon, MA. During my 12 years running BJY, I led 200-hour teacher training certifications, retreats, workshops and classes. In 2016, I sold the studio to run my kids yoga business Pretzel Kids, filling a void in the yoga space with qualified children's yoga teachers.

We’ll spend the first hour getting cozy in gentle restorative postures using a variety of props to support the body while receiving Thai massage assists from Kris. Restorative yoga promotes relaxation, good sleep while sinking deep into the tissue to promote recovery and healing. Deep pressure is applied during Thai massage to relieve muscle tension and pain, boost circulation, and detoxify the body.
For the final 30 minutes of class Kris will lead us through a guided yoga nidra meditation as you drift into a deeply relaxed state of bliss while maintaining concious awareness in a safe, intimate space.
